The RETAIN teacher retention programme is designed to support the development of Early Career Teachers (ECTs) in primary schools to reduce attrition from the teaching profession.

RETAIN ECTs work in socio-economically disadvantaged areas with pupils from particularly deprived backgrounds. RETAIN will build the knowledge, understanding and skills of ECTs in working with pupils and families from disadvantaged backgrounds, and build their professional confidence, to improve these pupils outcomes.

The programme is being developed and delivered through a partnership of The Cornwall College Group, the Institute of Education: University College London (UCL), Birmingham City University and Edge Hill University. The pilot programme will be conducted in Cornwall, with all the partners contributing to programme design and delivery.
